(IowaStormCenter.com) — Final forecast for spring-like storm system to bring heavy wet snow and blizzard conditions Tuesday night through Wednesday morning.
The forecast remains consistent with this morning’s update, so we will summarize the main points below.
1. Scattered showers and thunderstorms work in after 12 AM Tuesday, increasing in coverage during the afternoon.
2. Rain transitions to heavy wet snow over western Iowa by Tuesday evening and gradually spreading east into central Iowa overnight, then eastern Iowa Wednesday morning.
3. Snowfall accumulations of 2-6″ extending from west/southwest Iowa through central and northern Iowa with higher amounts near the Minnesota border.
4. Strong wind gusts of 50-60 MPH Tuesday PM through Wednesday AM aiding in a period of blizzard conditions.
5. All activity tapers off across central/east Iowa Wednesday afternoon as the strongest wind gusts slowly subside into the evening.
