(IowaStormCenter.com) — Confidence is growing for multiple storm systems to deliver accumulating snow during the upcoming week.
System #1 – Feb. 10-11th: The first system will bring a weak piece of energy through the area Monday evening into Tuesday with minor snow accumulation possible statewide, but this is not the focus for the pattern.
Storm #2 – Feb. 12-13th: Then a second system will develop next week before curving northeast to bring the snow risk through south/southeast Iowa Wednesday morning through Thursday with the potential for light to moderate snow accumulation.
Storm #3 – Feb. 14-16th: An upper level trough and low pressure system will develop in the pacific later next week sweeping through southern California and then off to the northeast.
This is a setup that always hits us here and due to the cold temperatures, you will have snow as the pattern continues to cool down.
The details on the exact track, timing and totals will need to be ironed out over the next week. Given limited signals, we will hold off on highlighting any snow risk at this range but may be introduced later.
As always, stay tuned to updates here at Iowa Storm Center.
