(IowaStormCenter.com) — The spring pattern will favor a continuation of snow risks in the northern plains and an uptick in severe weather threats over Iowa, Missouri and points southeast.
These storm systems will still be capable of snow risks for the northwest half of Iowa through the latter half of March before milder systems become more prevalent further into the season.
Once we move towards April, the primary setup for severe weather will feature warm fronts over the area yielding a very active tornado season ahead. A pattern of this kind will favor the highest activity over the Ohio/Tennessee valleys with threats to extend northward into the Midwest.
Additionally, planting delays will be a concern for farm operations over the eastern half of Iowa through Illinois with a very active precipitation pattern at play for the season.
Finally, temperatures will run below average for the month of April with precipitation above average over Eastern Iowa and average elsewhere.
