An area of scattered showers and thunderstorms over eastern Iowa will continue to move east this morning ahead of a warm front.
The afternoon will feature a robust environment over far east Nebraska through western Iowa with dew points surging into the upper 50s to lower 60s ahead of the cold front.
Once the evening hits, we should see development coincide over eastern Nebraska initially with activity expected to grow upscale working into Iowa later tonight.
While some severe threat may transpire over northern Iowa and southern Minnesota, the threat will be limited as dynamics will be on the downtrend considering timing of storm development.
The main concern will be very large hail in the level 3 red shaded zone in addition to the damaging wind and isolated tornado threat.
Given strong low-level shear, an isolated tornado or two is probable should any individual storms be able to maintain surfaced base characteristics near the vicinity of Omaha and Missouri Valley/Harlan, Iowa.
