MAJOR SEVERE WEATHER EVENT TODAY – Monday, April 28, 2025 –
An area of showers and thunderstorms over Minnesota will continue to lift northeast this morning before exiting around midday.
Then the strong impulse will hit eastern South Dakota moving into Minnesota where the details remain the same from yesterday’s update. Main points summarized below.
1. High-end tornado threat centered over central/southern Minnesota where strong tornadoes will be possible in this zone.
2. The focus will be on SW Minnesota and potentially into NW Iowa for severe thunderstorm development capable of all hazards as early as 2-4 PM this afternoon.
3. Additional development remains possible down the cold front across Iowa and southward, however this area stands the chance of a bust.
4. All activity shifts east into central Minnesota by the evening, including north central Iowa.
5. Then western Wisconsin by tonight where a limited tornado and damaging wind threat will remain possible.
