(IowaStormCenter.com) — The June forecast is in at Iowa Storm Center, calling for an active start to June with above average temperatures.
A ridge of high pressure will move east late this weekend with the onset of a warm front that will send temperatures into the middle/upper 80s early next week.
This will set the stage for thunderstorms and severe weather as a shortwave trough ejects into the plains, likely to target Iowa June 3-5 followed by a second system around the 7-9th of the month.
Temperatures will remain above normal with shots of cooler air behind each frontal system and precipitation around average for June given an active start to the month.
We will need to take this pattern one week at a time, though we are noting the more active precipitation/severe weather chances to shift into the far northern plains and high plains by the middle of June.
