A strong upper level low will bring rain and strong winds to the area on Sunday followed by heavy snow Sunday night through Monday so read on for the details…

We will start to see rain work into our southwestern counties later this evening and this should slowly spread north into northwest Iowa by Sunday afternoon/evening. Then rain will begin to transition over to heavy snow late Sunday night into early Monday morning with snowfall rates of 1-2″ per hour likely. Right now we highlight the highest snow accumulation risk across the northern half of the state where an area of 4-8″ of snow will likely exist. In addition to the rain and heavy snow…we will have strong winds driving into the state during the day Sunday with the highest wind gusts of 50-60+ MPH likely.
