A clipper system will pass through later today with a risk for accumulating snow extending from northern Iowa into northeast Iowa. Snow will start to work into the northwest part of the state by later this afternoon and continue to move east into north central Iowa by late afternoon with eventually northeast Iowa by the evening. The highest snow accumulation will be found from north central into northeast Iowa where snowfall accumulation of 2-5″ is on the table. Snow will start to taper off from west to east by late tonight into early Sunday morning.
A second clipper system will follow Sunday night into Monday in a very similar area across northern Iowa. The timing on this will have to be fine tuned but thinking is snow sets in later Sunday evening and exits the state by later Monday morning. An additional trace-2″ of snow accumulation is possible.
