Cold and windy day ahead with temperatures in the single digits/teens north and 20s south. Strong northwesterly winds sustained 10-25 with wind gusts 25-35 MPH. An area of light snow across northern Iowa will continue to press east through the day with a quick trace-1″ of snow accumulation from north central to northeast Iowa. Milder temperatures hit on Saturday, especially across western Iowa.
We will see a brief cool down on Sunday as a second clipper system will pass through. This can deliver a quick hitting of flurries but plenty of dry air will be around so it’s possible that nothing falls from the sky. Regardless, will continue to watch that. Then milder temperatures take over much of next week.
