Mostly sunny today across most areas with high temperatures in the 50s, middle to upper 40s from north central to northeast Iowa. All eyes are on the next storm system that will impact the state over the weekend. Rain would start to increase Saturday afternoon with a break in the action later Saturday night before snow would begin early Sunday morning from west to east. Snow will be likely across the northwest half of the state much of Sunday. Latest computer guidance suggests the potential for some accumulating snow but this will mainly be on grass and elevated surfaces. As snow is falling during the day Sunday we will have mixing to the surface to allow for strong northerly winds which will likely reduce visibility.
