Iowa Forecast: Sprinkles North Today…Tracking Rain Chances Wednesday into Thursday

129

We will see another mild day across the state with high temperatures in the 80s, even lower 90s confined to extreme western Iowa. As a result, dew points will be well into the 60s once again today.

A few pieces of energy will be moving through northwest and north central Iowa this morning so I can’t rule out a few sprinkles or a brief shower but that will be about it. However, this will be a preview to what takes place Wednesday through Thursday.

A cold front is expected to pass through the state on Wednesday that will bring a chance for scattered showers and thunderstorms. The latest forecast radar below has the activity primarily in the morning/early afternoon time frame. Additional scattered storm chances should follow Wednesday night into Thursday. That said, these minor nuisance type events are very tricky to forecast even in the short term so check back as we will continue to fine tune this.

Continuing to watch this weekend as a second cold front will pass through the state with increased shower/thunderstorm chances and even the possibility of strong storm activity. We still need to iron out all the details but to get an idea of what is on the way, here is a look at total precipitation the next 7 days.
