Light to moderate rain showers will continue to work through the area today through late tonight with wet snow mixing in across interior northwest Iowa and light accumulations of a trace-2″, especially near the South Dakota border. Then the focus turns to a risk of accumulating snow and gusty winds later Wednesday evening through Thursday evening. At the moment, the areas at greatest risk for accumulating snow is across central and southern Iowa where moderate to heavy accumulations will be likely with a sharp cut-off on the north side of the storm system. Once this activity moves east of the state Thursday night, milder temperatures will start to work back in by this upcoming weekend. Below is the probability for at least 2″ of snow but we discuss an early idea on amounts in the video above.
