Iowa Forecast: Milder Temperatures and Mostly Sunny; Tracking Weekend Storm Chances

172

We do have a few areas of patchy dense fog this morning across central and southern Iowa but should see this fully dissipate between 9-10 AM this morning. Otherwise it will be another quiet day on tap across the area with mostly sunny skies and temperatures in the upper 70s to low/mid 80s. Some humidity will be around with dew points generally in the low to middle 60s.

A disturbance will pass through the northern plains later this week and it does look like we may get brushed with a few scattered showers Wednesday. Also watching for additional chances on Thursday. Overall though, precipitation amounts should be fairly light with this wave.

A more impactful system (cold front) will slide through the state over this upcoming weekend fueling a decent chance for showers and thunderstorms statewide. We do have some instability to work with in this system so some strong storm potential may also be in the cards but at this distance there is still plenty of uncertainty on the table.
