A potent winter storm moved across the area Thursday leaving a swath of heavy snow accumulations from southwest through central and into eastern Iowa where a few areas like Iowa City had 11.5″ of snow. Today will feature mostly sunny skies with highs in the 20s east and low/middle 30s west. Low temperatures tonight will dip back into the teens and lower 20s across the state. Then all eyes are on a set of storm dates that can bring additional precipitation chances to the forecast area next week. Below is a look at snowfall reports compared to what was forecasted.
