A clipper system will work across the northern plains today and this will put Iowa on the southern edge of the system. Precipitation will be in the form of wintry mix across northwest Iowa and mainly snow across the extreme northeast part of the state where the colder air will be available. Strong northwesterly winds will increase overnight tonight with gusts ranging 35-45 MPH. Then we will see the strong winds decrease by Sunday afternoon across much of Iowa as the system moves east of the state.
