(IowaStormCenter.com) — The February forecast will favor an uptick in storm systems with below average temperatures.
A ridge over the Gulf of Alaska will breakdown next week with an active pattern developing for the first half of February. This will bring cold storm systems through the plains and upper Midwest with an increase in accumulating snow threats, including winter storms.
The storm dates calculated here feature a storm system at the beginning of the month (next weekend) followed by another system surrounding February 3-6 and a final one Feb. 6-9.
This will be a setup for frequent storms throughout the first 10 days of the month with temperatures trending below normal and precipitation around average to above average for February.
Additional updates will follow leading up to the dates listed above as we monitor the incoming pattern.
