The first clipper system moved through the area last night and the second one will hit later today into Monday so read on for the details…
Forecast grade with system from 1-22-22: Going forward I will be reflecting on every snow forecast that is issued here for the rest of the season. This gives you my honesty as to how my forecast was and the accuracy you will see here. Now as of the reports that have came filtering in this morning the forecast went well. I will give myself a B for this one given the dry air that did erode some of the snow further south. You will see below on the left side is what I forecasted and then on the right side is the reports that have came in. Another good one for the books. Now let’s move on and talk about our next one that hits tonight.
A second Alberta clipper system will impact the area later tonight into Monday morning. The timing on this is very similar to yesterday’s event with snow beginning across northwest Iowa by middle to late afternoon and sliding east into north central and northeast Iowa by later in the evening. This system will come in two waves of snow with the first wave this evening and a second one by Monday morning. Temperatures will rise into the upper 20s to lower 30s across western Iowa Monday morning as the second wave is moving through. Snow will come to an end across the state by midday on Monday with total snowfall accumulation of a quick trace-2″. Cold air will start to set in by later Monday afternoon into the evening sending temperatures back into the single digits with areas from north to central Iowa below zero Monday night. The snowfall forecast and temperatures are below.
